Books
Our Bookstore location houses a general stock of around 6,000 titles, primarily hardcover books of literary note. These are shelved alphabetically for convenient “by-and-about” browsing of the authors' own works, plus any biographical or critical material on them that we may have. Poetry, better 1st editions, internet items (with stock slips), and signed / limited works are available separately, as is literary criticism that treats a movement, period, or group of writers, rather than a single author.
We have a number of specialty areas in addition to American and World Literature. Especially strong are the sub-collections of Books-on-Books, Printing Technologies, and Popular Music criticism, including record-collecting and artist biographies. Abolition, the Vietnam War, and Popular Culture of the 50s and 60s are other topics to check out when visiting the store.
Open-shelf stock is mostly priced in the $5 - $10 range, condition is above-average, and many dust jackets are given new archival protectors when we inventory them.
Below are some typical subject areas in which we actively buy and regularly stock good used items, plus remaindered as-new titles selected from major book wholesalers throughout the U.S. We are also available to inspect and purchase private collections.
